Property Tax Roll Changes or Escaped Assessments
Roll changes or escaped assessments are assessments for events thathappened in prior years but were not discovered in a timely manner by the county assessor.
For example, assume you built a swimming pool in September 2012, but the assessor did not
assess the value of the pool until September 2014. If you want to appeal the value of
the swimming pool assessed by the assessor, you must file your appeal no later than
60 days after the date of mailing printed on the assessment notice (or tax bill in some
counties), or the postmark date of the notice or tax bill, whichever is later.
If you are considering challenging the county on either a property tax roll change or an escaped assessment notice you should be represented by a professional. You need someone on your side who understands your situation as well as how to properly value your property and skillfully present the information to the county in a manner that will benefit your property tax situation.
Please educate yourself on our website. But when it comes time to deal with the county give us a call.
