Calamity Reassessment Property Tax Information
State law [Revenue and Taxation CodeSection 170] allows the Assessor’s Office totemporarily reduce the assessed value of aproperty that was damaged or destroyedthrough no fault of the property owner. Thedamage must exceed $10,000 and anapplication must be filed within 12 monthsfrom the date the damage occurred.
Property Tax Relief
The current property taxes will be reducedfor that portion of the property damaged or destroyed. This reduction will be from the date of the damage, and will remain in effectuntil the property is rebuilt or repaired.
